Ashgabat — the white marble city

2 days from $390 easy
Ashgabat — the white marble city

Two-day deep dive into the capital city — Guinness-record marble architecture, Tolkuchka bazaar, and the Geokdepe mosque.

Ashgabat holds the Guinness World Record for the highest concentration of white marble buildings on Earth — 543 buildings clad in 4.5 million square metres of Carrara marble. The city was almost entirely rebuilt after the 1948 earthquake that killed two-thirds of its population.

Walk the Independence Park, the Neutrality Monument, the National Museum, and end at Altyn Asyr — the largest covered bazaar in Central Asia.
