О TM Tourism

TM Tourism was founded in 2016 in Ashgabat by a small group of Turkmen guides and historians. We operate under license from the State Committee for Tourism of Turkmenistan and are members of the Turkmen Association of Tour Operators (TATO).

Our team is fifteen people across Ashgabat, Mary and Türkmenbaşy. Every guide on our roster was born and raised in Turkmenistan, trained in tourism or history at Turkmen State University or the Magtymguly Pyragy Institute, and speaks at minimum English and Russian fluently.

What we do

We design and operate private tours for independent travellers, families, journalists, researchers and small specialist groups. Our average group size is four. The largest tour we run is eight.

We do not subcontract. Every itinerary is operated by our own staff with our own 4×4 vehicles, our own drivers, and personal relationships with the families, breeders and craftspeople you meet along the way.

Visa & invitation support

Turkmenistan requires a Letter of Invitation (LOI) for most nationalities. We handle this end-to-end at no additional cost to confirmed bookings. Average LOI processing time is 18 working days; we recommend booking at least 8 weeks before travel.

Sustainability

Every tour contributes a fixed percentage to local crafts cooperatives in the welayats we visit. We maintain partnerships with the Geokdepe horse breeders' cooperative and the Mary regional textile collective.
